Rejoice!

I have tired parent eyes, snot on my sweatshirt, and throw up in my hair. Because this has proven to be a week of little sleep and baby sickness (on Christmas eve eve–so unfair!).

So when I was rocking the wee babe at 4:30 this morning I put together a list of some of my favorite christmas songs ever. Because I sure do need a reminder of what it really is all about, when I am tired and over-sugared and stuck at home with a super cute (and snotty and needy) little babe (and trying not to stress about the Christmas presents I have not finished crafting).

All of the songs I love the most talk about the role of JEsus in his entirety–about a king giving up his throne, a son choosing to die, a grand scheme of redemption for all of humankind.

It kind of puts me and my unfinished Christmas gifts in perspective.

Here is my Christmas list: http://open.spotify.com/user/rosemarried/playlist/4yDG4NkfXkLQM6uPBYfo3H. My sister, who is cooler and smarter, figured out a way to share it via Spotify. I highly encourage you to check out Spotify, where you can listen to these songs at your leisure. The baby and I will have this on repeat.

1. A Carrot, a Stick, and a String —Mewithoutyou

2. The Friendly Beasts–Sufjan

3. To be with You —Sara Groves

4. Only at Christmas Time —Sufjan

5. In the Bleak Midwinter –James Taylor

6. Emmanuel —Amy Grant

7. I Celebrate the Day —Reliant K

8. All the King’s Horns —Sufjan

9. The Night Before Christmas —Amy Grant

10. Jesus, Born on this Day —Mariah Carey

11. O Come O Come Emmanuel — David Crowder Band

12. Peace, Peace —Sara Groves

13. Sister Winter —Sufjan

I hope you enjoy.

And here is the cutest retelling of the Christmas Story Ever (complete with New Zealand accents and kids dressed up as wooly rams) (thanks Amber for posting this first) :

Aaaaaaand even though this has NOTHING to do with Christmas music, here is a little video of my new favorite pop song. It’s by some guy named Gotye (Australian/Belgian). I dare you to not get it stuck in your head. He is like a modern, less annoying Phil Collins! Merry Christmas!
